mobile exchanges user information with the base station using forward traffic channels and reserve traffic channels.This state contains 3 sub states:

1.)Traffic channel initialization sub state.
2.)Traffic channel sub state
3.)Release sub state

The mobile nominally goes through these three sub states sequentially,and it exits from release sub state back to system determination sub state of mobile station initialization state.

The mobile enters this state from the System Access State either to originate or answer a call.
Apart from this mobile may come to the traffic state either to send/receive long SMS or OTASP procedures depending on the Service Option in the Origination Message/Page Response Message.
