What protocol does PPP use to identify the Network layer protocol?

NCP(Network Control protocol) bsically identify the upper layer layer 3 protocol that will going to be encapsulated inside the PPP header and to make sure that the data is directed to the correct layer 3 protocol and to allow these protocols to run over WAN links. NCP identify fields for IP, IPX, Appletalk etc.
