The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is the regulator for the converging communications and multimedia industry. At the time it was created its key role was the regulation of the communications and multimedia industry based on the powers provided for in the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act (1998) and the Communications and Multimedia Act (1998). Pursuant to these Acts the role of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is to implement and promote the Government's national policy objectives for the communications and multimedia sector. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is also charged with overseeing the new regulatory framework for the converging industries of telecommunications, broadcasting and on-line activities.
Nepal Telecommunications Authority is the telecommunications regulatory body of Nepal. It is an autonomous body established on Feb 1998 in accordance with Telecommunications Act, 1997 and Telecommunications Regulation, 1998. It's objective is to create a favorable and competitive environment for the development, expansion and operation of telecommunications services with the private sector participation in Nepal.
The BSA is an Independent Crown Entity (ICE) set up by the Broadcasting Act 1989. We report to Parliament through the Minister of Broadcasting. PANGTEL was established by virtue of the Telecommunications Act 1996 (as amended) as regulator and licensing authority of telecommunications and radiocommunications including television and broadcasting services in PNG. Following the enactment of the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) Act 2002 and the subsequent Telecommunications Industry Act 2002 the social and economic regulatory functions previously discharged by PANGTEL have been transferred to ICCC.
