Access channels are different from other, they are used for some special cases at 4.8kbps.

a) To access the system, respond the page, make call origination and process other messages between the MS and the BS.
b) 4.8 kbps slotted random access channel.
c) MS is identified by orthogonal of long code.

A Reverse CDMA Channel used by mobile stations for communicating to base stations . The Access Channel is used for short signaling message exchanges such as call originations, responses to pages, and registrations.
The Access Channel is a slotted random access channel.
