In short sanity testing is basically a testing in which we will check that all the functionality of the system is working properly.Or we can say its an initial effort to check the integrity of the system.

Guys , in fact Sanity test also called Sanity check.
It is a basic test for evaluating the validity of claim or calculation.
For example ; in mathematics when we multiplying with 2 or 4 then the result is multiple of 2 0r 4 respectively it is the sanity test.
