Used to connect hub,switches except PC to PC.

When you have two (or more) devices that are transmitting and receiving through cable you can use straight cable connect.

connecting a computer to a hub or switch, connecting a computer to a cable/ISDN/DSL modem, and linking switches and hubs together.
So in general we can say that it is used to connect different devices.
